Abstract:
We have fabricated and experimentally demonstrated a twisted multicore fiber as a compact, low-cost, mechanically strong platform for refractive index sensing. We achieve sensitivities as high as 1077 nm/RIU, and an FSR of about 331 nm, 6 times larger than in conventional sensing techniques.
